Meet Richard Petz: Senior Producer at Bridgenext

07.08.26 By

If you ask anyone at Bridgenext who keeps a shoot running like clockwork, there’s a good chance they’ll point you toward Richard. From producing a daily high school news segment to keeping a jam-packed shoot day with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Richard has built a career on preparation, communication, and a healthy dose of caffeine.

In this edition of our Meet the Team series, we’re sitting down with our Senior Producer to talk craft, caffeine, and what it really takes to pull off a flawless shoot day.

Bridgenext team stats:

Meet Richard Petz: Senior Producer at Bridgenext

  • Name: Richard Petz
  • State: NY
  • Role: Senior Producer
  • Favorite go-to snack/drink to keep your creative juices flowing: Coffee
  • How did you enter the world of production? Can you share a bit about your career journey?

I first started in High School at our television station where we produced a 10 minute news program every day and I loved it. During college I was an intern at WABC-TV in New York working for “7 On Your Side,” the consumer investigative team. It was a great place to get real hands on experience.

  • Sum up your work style in three emojis:

    👍🧑‍💻🎧

  • What do you love most about working with your team at Bridgenext?

I just love the people, they’re always ready to help you make a project better and have a can do attitude.

  • What’s one tool, process, or mindset you rely on daily to get things done as a producer?

I like a good list. Usually on paper and usually rewritten several times a week. And I love crossing things out on the list, it gives me a sense of accomplishment and keeps me focused.

  • What fuels your creative fire (besides caffeine and deadlines)?

A good unplugged walk around the block can really help get me out of a funk.

  • Tell us about a project you’re especially proud of.

We quickly turned around a large one-day shoot with Jeffrey Dean Morgan for Wahl to highlight one of their new trimmers. It was just one of those projects where everyone brought their A game and it was such a fun time with a great result. Here’s the video.

  • What’s your go-to software, platform, or production tool for bringing ideas to life?

Most of my projects start with a Word Document, it’s not fancy but it’s the truth. Before anything else happens, someone has to work through an idea, an outline, a script… it has to come from something, and there should always be a plan and a schedule.

  • What’s the most exciting trend in video or content production right now, from your perspective?

AI is obviously the hottest trend right now but like many new technologies I think it will find it’s place in video production and post production, but story tellers will still lead the way to create quality content with a creative team around them that can deliver.

  • How do you stay ahead in an industry that’s constantly evolving?

I think it’s as simple as communicating. When you are on a shoot or working on a project, talk to the other team members. Find out what camera might be the best for this style of shoot or what new tool we could use in the edit to really step up the end product.

  • Do you have a favorite quote that resonates with your work or life philosophy?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi (I looked it up to make sure I had the wording right and apparently he was paraphrased for this quote, but I still like it.)

Behind every seamless shoot is a producer that cares enough to think things through before the cameras roll. That kind of quiet thoroughness is easy to overlook until you’re on a shoot that’s running perfectly and you realize someone planned it that way.

Richard’s mix of old-school hustle and unshakeable calm is exactly the kind of energy that makes Bridgenext productions successful.
